EngravingInventor HSM 2D Engraving

If you have text or special shapes designed into your part, then you can use the new engraving toolpath to mill it. This toolpath supports the use of a chamfer tool to machine into modelled shapes and features.

Additionally, with a few tricks & templates, this is your ticket to center line engraving ID numbers onto your components.


Inventor HSM ProbingDefine your probe as a tool in your tool library, then select a face to define a probing cycle. Very handy when you want to automate setting your work co-ordinate system on your machine without running the cycle independently. What about in process probing? Yeah, that’s possible too, drill then bore a hole, the reset your co-ordinate system to be based off of your newly machined feature. Any toolpaths following that will be run from that co-ordinate system increasing the overall accuracy of your components.

TurningInventor HSM Turning

Autodesk HSM Premium features all the traditional turning toolpaths, including facing, roughing, grooving, threading, drilling and profiling. For drilling and hole making, choose between pre-programmed machining cycles and canned cycles, or use a combination of both. Inventor HSM supports programming twin-turret and twin-spindle lathes using all of the traditional turning operations. Mill/Turn operations are supported when combined with the 2D or 3D milling option.

Inventor HSM 3D 3-axis Toolpath SimulationTool Library

Tool information can be specified directly using the Inventor tool library or imported from 3rd party tool databases. Production documents, including a tool list, are automatically generated and can be exported in a number of different formats including HTML, XML, Excel and Word documents.

3+2 Machining

All 2D and 3D strategies support 3+2 machining (5-axis positioning) by rotating the part or the head of the machine tool through a combination of A, B, or C axis motions. Create 3+2 operations by simply selecting a work plane for the operation. Inventor HSM takes care of the rest by finding the most efficient rotations to orient the part. Once positioned, all machining strategies are available. Tools and holders are gouge protected for all strategies that normally support this feature.
